Primitive Methodist Church.
The concert given in the Primitive Methodist Oimrch on Christmas night night was a good one, the programme being exceptionally good, and as all the performers did so well it would be difficult to say who did best. Mrs Prior's sweet mellow voice gave good effect to her songs, and her rendering of tha " Holy City " evoked an enthusiastic encore, when she responded with " Consider the lilies." Mr Cai'ty had selected a piece in which his voice could be heard at its best, whilst Mr Greenwood, the old veteran of songs, was, as usual, well received. Mr A. Eade sang two pieces in his well known style. Mi Woollams gave two flute solos and the first, " La Seranata," was rendered in such a style as to prove him a flutist of high order. Mr C. Staffan was heard at his best in his violin solos. Miss Gould sang with good effect both in her solo and in the duet with Mr Johnston. The duet by Mrs Fisher and Miss Heald was a good blending of voices. Mr Johnson's two recitations " The road to Heaven," and " Vat you please," took on immensely with the people, especially the first, which was very appropriate for Christmas night and was well given. Miss Giesen was pianist and Mrs J. C. Thompson presided at the organ. The attendance was fairly good but for such a programme the church ought to have been crowded. The audience was attentive ana appreciate, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. At the close votes of thanks to those who assisted were moved and seconded by Messrs J. C. Thompson and G. Adams. The meeting was presided over by the Rev J. Cocker.
