Newly Married Couple Drowned.

(Per Press Association.) Auckland, Dec. 24. A sad bathing accident occurred at Henderson's Valley, by which a resident named H. W. Woodward and his wife, married only three months ago, were drowned in the creek. The brother of one of them, on visiting the house yesterday, found the place deserted, aud subsequently discovered the body of Woodward lying near the bank, and that of his wife in deep water some distance off It is believed that Mrs Woodward got out of her depth, and that her husband, in diving to rescue her, was stunned by striking his head against a snag, and was drowned, Woodward's age was 39, and that of his wife 27.
