. .» -._ The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held on Saturday afternoon. Present — Crs Jacob (chairman), H, G. Shannon, J. J. Williamson, J. Beid, W. Jones, W. Morton, F. Homer. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was received and dealt with as follows : — From the Treasury, approving of loan of £496 for Apiti bridge, £650 for Otara approaches, and £875 for Eiwitea bridge ; also, £685 for Terrace road and £327 for Onepuhi bridge was available. From Auditor-General, returning bal-ance-sheet for half-year ending September 30th. From Commissioner of Crown Lands, stating that through some inadvertence the Council had not been advised that the Land Board had approved of the scheme to expend £100 of "thirds" accruing from Mr A. P. . Margesson's section, and that the whole £150 now accrned had been included in the ached- , ules sent. . % From B. Marsh, offering £1 for right of cutting grass seed on Junction road, y • From H. Sixtus and seven other settlers on Bluff road, objecting to having the money spent on forming the road right through, thinking it should be ; metalled from the end of Kimbolton road and the gorge completed as far as '■•■( the funds will permit.— Cr Homer said there would be abont £125 in hand formetalling ou this road. ■■ - From United Farmers' Co-operative Association, stating they could not allow their sale yards at Birmingham to A be used as a pound. From G. Boss, Beaconsfield, complaining that cows were allowed to graze on roads. Accounts were passed for payment. Resolved, That the chairman and ono other Councillor be authorised to affix seal to copies of special orders and rate rolls, being formal documents required by Treasury Department. Proposed by Cr Williamson, seconded by Cr Homer, That Cr Morton and the -. chairman be hereby authorised to grant - what charitable aid they may consider necessary to C. Gurney and family durthe pleasure of the Council.— Carried. Besolved, That the Clerk procure box to contain seal as (required by bye-law'; also, N.Z. Statutes for 1894 and 1895. Proposed by Cr Beid, seconded by Cr Jones, That application be made for £50 to be spent in stumping, clearing and . bridging the Mangatikeiroad; to be made up as follows :— Thirds on Mangatikei . road £25, thirds from Pakihikura road £20, from rates £s— Carried. Proposed by Cr Beid, seconded by Cr Jones, That application be made that the thirds in hand belonging to the Pakihikura road be spent in improving the present road, less £20 to be spent on the Mangitikei road — Carried. Proposed by Cr Morton, seconded by Cr Williamson, That the secretary inform Mr Pawelki that it requires another £1 before a slaughtering license can be issued for the year 1896 ; also, to send him a receipt for the fee for last year's . license — Carried. Proposed by Cr Homer, seconded by Cr Jacob, That fresh tenders be called for the work on the Junction road for which money is now in hand. Tendera. to close at Birmingham on date to be fixed and Cr Morton and the Engineer be authorised to open and deal with thie same— Carried. Notice of motion having been given, Cr Jacob proposed, and Cr Williamson seconded, That until suitable arrangements are completed for conducting the business of the County at Birmingham the meetings of the Council be beid at Feilding as usual— Carried. Besolved, That the foUowing tenders be accepted for right to cut grass seed - on roads :— T. A. Bryce, £5 6s, Bryce's road; E. Blunden, £2, Kimbolton road, Peep-o'-Day to Beef Creek ; W. S. Barbary, £1 10s, Kimbolton road, Coulter's road to Burne's gate; J. and J. Shapleski, £1, Junction road; W; F. Marsh, 9s 2d, Oroua Valley, road, Kimbolton to Brauch road. Proposed by Cr Homer, seconded by tho Chairman, That tenders be called to close . lat the next meeting for another 60 or. 70 ' chains of formation on the Peep-o'-Day road.— Carried. Besolved, That the foUowing tenders, be accepted: — Eiwitea Cross road, J. Gould, £204 15s; Bluff road, J. Woulfe, £152 17s 6d ; Peep-o'-Day, M. Doherty, £216; Bangitikei Valley road, Behrent and Strawbndge, £84 ; Branch and Terrace roads, Jos. Schapleski, £159, for forming and Culverting 95 chains and metalling 69 chains. Proposed by Cr Morton, seconded by Cr Beid, That Mr E. Goodbehere be informed that this Council does not feel, justified iv increasing its expenditure for clerical work, that he take notice of the intention of this Council to terminate his engagement bn May 22nd, 1896. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Morton, seconded by Cr Reid, That Crs Jacob, Shannon, and Morton, be a committee to inspect the proposed office at Birmingham with power to lease the same and make any alterations found necessary; also, to purchase furniture and other necessaries required by the Council. The Council then adjourned.
