Pobangina County Council.
ANNUAL MEETING OF RATEPAYERS. The annual meeting of ratepayers of , the Pohangina Conncil, which should have been held on the 27th ult., but whicb lapsed owing to the flooded state '-' of the rivers, was held on Saturday last, by order-in-council. Owing no doubt to the very short notice, the only ratepayers present were six members of the Council — Messrs Dickin, Vicary, A BeU, Wagstaff, Selby and Fraser. Cr Dickin, who was appointed to the chair, explained that the meeting was for the purpose of electing a chairman for the CouncU for the ensuing year. It was then moved by Cr Vicary and seconded by Cr BeU) that Cr Dickin be appointed chairman for the next term. After a few complimentary remarks from the other counciUors, ttie motion was carried unanimously. Tbe chairman then stated that the -. next business was the consideration of : balancr-sheet, but this could not be done a« the balance-sheet was in Wellington. As there was no other business the meeting terminated. — Standard.
