SENSATIONAL MARRIAGE. (Per Press Association.) Melbourne, December 19. The Legislative Assembly has amended the Income Tax Bill, fixing the exemptions* on a lower scale so as to create an increase iv the revenue. The measure bas passed all stages. The Premier said it was necessary to make up tbe large decreases in the Customs and Railwsiy revenue. He expects to receive L 170.000 from the Income Tax and L 30.000 of arrears. This Day. The Federal Bill has finally passed without amendment. Sydnet, December 19. Wheat — Prime new crop, milling, 4s 3d ; chick, 4s 3d. Flour brands, LlO lOb to Lll ; new, for January delivery, L 9 10 to LlO. Oats Prime feeding, 2s 9d to 2s lOd. Muize, Sa 3d to 3s 4d. Barley Cape, 3s. Potatoes — Circular Heads Ll 10s to L2; new, L 4 10s to L5. Onions, Lf> 5s to L 5 10a. Butter— Dairy 7d ; factory, ls. Cheese — New Zealand, 6£d to 7d. Bacon, s£d to 6£d. Kate Hayes and Robert Henderson have been committed for trial for making a false declaration in connection with their marriage. The lad is only 17 years of age, and was in receipt of 5s per week as a saddler's apprentice. The motive of the girl in inducing him to marry her was apparently the fact that his father was well-to-do, and had settled £5000 worth of property on his sou and two daughters. The juvenile Bene* diet expressed the opinion that 5s weekly was sufficient to live well on. The bride, who is 21 years of age, paid the expenses of the honeymoon. Adey, the best man, who displayed an inordinate desire to hasten the marriage, has also been committed for trial. This Day. In tho Legislative Assembly the Premier, in moving the adoption of the Council's amendments to the Federal Bill, said he did not intend a measure containing such great reforms to be wrecked over so small a matter. The Council's amendments were agreed to and the Bill finally passed. Brisbane, This Day Mr Virgil Power, Crown Prosecutor, has accepted tbe puisne judgeship, rendered vacant by the death of Justice Harding. Adelaide, This Day. A deadlock has arisen between the two Houses owing to the Council's amendments in the Pastoral Bill. The Council has asked for another conference.
