RELEASE OF PRISONERS BY THE MAHDI. (Per Press Association.) London, Dec. 18. The Mahdi has released seven Egyptian prisoners. Dec. 19. The House of Lords decided the Santo Polo (Brazilian) Railway Company's office in London is liable to pay income tax on all profits whether remitted to England for shareholders or not. No reason is assigned for the release of of European prisoners by the Mahdi. The captives have been cruelly treated ; since Siatin Bey escaped from Khartoum ; in March last. Mr H. C. Fulford has been unseated for the Litchfield constituency on the ground of bribery at the election.
