The Reciprocity Treaty.
REJECTED BY THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN PARLIAMENT. (Per Press Association.) Adelaide, Deo. 15. The Assembly practically rejected the New Zealand Reciprocity Treaty. An amendment was carried by 29 to 16 excluding barley from the terms of the treaty, and a similar amendment with regard to oats was carried on the voices. The Premier immediately announced that these amendments rendered it impossible for New Zealand and South Australia at the present time to come to any agreement. In any case the New Zealand Parliament could not further consider tbe question for some months, and, therefore, it was idle for South Australia to proceed further with it. Under tbe circumstances Government would throw on the majority who voted against tbe Treaty the responsibility of fsr their votes, and leave them to justify their action. The Treasur moved that tbe Chairman leave the chair, and amidst considerable excitement and die* sent, the motion was declared carried.
