The Bean Conspiracy Case. ACQUITTAL OF CRICK.
(Per Press Association.) Stdnkt, December 17. The jury intimated that after reviewing the evidence they had decided to acquit Crick. The Crown Prosecutor objected to this course till be replied. At the conclusion of counsels' addresses, Crick's Council contended the jury could bring in a verdict at any time during the hearing. The Judge upheld the Crown's contention, but after discussion tbe Crown Prosecutor intimated he would accept the jury's decision. Crick was therefore acquitted amidst applause. The Judge, addressing the jury, thanked them for the great consideration they bad given tbe case. Although there were one or two matters required explanation on Crick's part he thought the verdict just and he fully concurred with it. Crick thanked His Honor for his kindness, but the Judge added it was not mere kindness but simply justice. The Judge completes bis summing up in the case to-morrow.
