(Per Press Association.) Chmstchuhch. Dec. 16. < The match, Canterbury v. New South Wales, was continued to-day. The weather was hot and sultry, 2000 spec- ' tators being present, who much appreciated the different character of the play to that of Saturday. The Sydney team finished their first innings at 8 o'clock, 74 ahead. Canterbury started, their second innings at 3.35, and by vigorous and skilful batting not only wiped off the. lead bat now possess a credit balance of 81 for the loss of only two wickets. ' < Cuff's vigour and skill were inainly'responsible for this result. He scored 75 out of 104 whilst he was in, C Ridley also assisting well, and De Mans coming in at the death of the day's play with a good innings. , , The scores are— Canterbury, Ist in- V, . nings, 124.
