The Sugar Beet Industry.
(Pek Pbess Association.) Sydney, Dec. 9. " The establishment of sugar beet growing as a national industry seems in a fiur way to realisation. A Bill for giy- ; ing substantial Government assistance in starting lefrigeries has passed all its stages in the Assembly. A new clause •was added providing that no application for assistance could be approved until the owners or occupiers had not less than 10,000 acres of suitable land within ten miles Of the refinery and entered into a bond to cultivate not less than 9000' acres of beet for the first year and 2500 acres each succeeding three years.
