(Per Press Association). Wellington, Dec 8 Mr Cadman probably leaves for Auckland on Tuesday, going by way of Wanganui and Tokaaou. The charge of procuring abortion against Mrs Brown, was not concluded when the court adjourned last night, and the jury were locked up until to-morrow morning. The case for the Crown is still proceeding. A young man named William Stevens was arrested this morning- on acharge of assaulting Millman, a middle aged man, last night. Stevens struck the man in the face breaking his nose, and in falling the man received a nasty scalp wound, which necessitated his removal to the Hospital. The accused states he only acted in Belf defence. Christchurch, Dec. 8. The New South Wales cricket team left for New Zealand yesterday. F. G. Widge is replaced by J. Wilson. Dunedin, Dec. 8. John Collins, licensee of George Hotel, Port Chalmers, was charged with selling two glasses of beer on Sunday. As both men swore that the beer had been given to them and that Mrs Collins had told them she would not charge them for it, the case was dismissed. One of the men often worked for Collins. As Constable Pascoe, of Clinton, was arresting a lunatic yesterday afternoon, the man shot the constable in the thigh. Mr Coglen, hotelkeeper, and others captured the lunatic and placed him in the lockup. No particulars are to hand as to whether the constable's injury is serious, but it is believed it ib not. Bain, which fell heavilly on Saturday night, cleared off to-clay, but there is still a mist and the weather is rather threaten* ing.
