«. _ (Peb Pbess Association). Auckland, Dec. 6. At the inquest on Patrick Doberty, 55 years of age, found dead on the road at Pohui, an open verdict was returned. Deceased was on his way from Auckland looking for work. He was an old soldier. Prof. Peal, of Fitzgerald's circus, dived to-day from the top gallant yard of the ship Borrowdale, over 100 feet. A collection was taken frOm the spectators on the ferry steamers for the Blind Institute, which amounted to Lls. Mr Park, Government Veterinary Surgeon, accompanied by the local head of the Stock Department and the Inspector of Dairies, yesterday paid a surprise visit to town and suburban dairies. One yard wasfonmd in such a bad sanitary condition that the Council has been recommended to prohibit milk from it being sold in town. Others are also in a bad state.
