Rangiwahia Notes.

(FKOai A CORRESPONDENT). The weather of late has been dreadfully inconsistent with the season of the year. Rain has been, and is still, descending almost daily (let's hope it won't be annually). Thunder and hail storms have been experienced at intervals, with occasional winds, and a fair sprinkling of cold weather. All these circumstances have •wonderfully retarded shearing operations, and by H5 means improved our roads which, at present, are equally as bad in condition as in the middle of winter. Some folks are beginning to wonder if summer has found a fresh part of the globe to pour out her beautiful rays of sunshine. The bad weather has, however, in no way retarded the growth of garden crops, which are doing magnificently, and the grass is also growing rapidly, beating the consumers to a great extent. N There is a rumour afloat here that a Feilding sawmiller intends removing bis plant, at an early date, from Feilding to Rangiwahia. If such were to take place, it would, undoubtedly, be a boon to the settlers here, and buildings would be erected more rapidly. But, whether sach a movement would pay the sawmiller is another question. It may not do so at present, but in the future a mill will be required. The 1.0. G.T. Lodge held its osual weekly meeting last Saturday evening. The Brothers held a surprise meeting and entertained the Sisters. During the evening the following persons contributed towards the programme : Bros. -T. McKean, F. Handcock, M. Martin, A. Hickford, and Adamson, each gave a reading, Bros. T. McKean and A. Hickford gave recitations, and Bro. Adamson a song. Bro. Hickford apologised on behalf of the management committee for the noncompletion of the surprise entertainment. He said goods had been ordered from Feiiding but, on account of the bad roads, they had not arrived in time, and therefore the brothers -would lie compelled to make the best of a bad job. He was sure in the near future the Brothers wonld give a real good entertainment worthy of the Lodge Sisters. The township of Rangiwahia still increases in buildings, Mr C. Fxankbanser is at present erecting a store and dwellinghouse combined. It almost fronts the Hotel, and, when finished, will be occupied by a bootmaker and fruiterer. It has now been decided to hold the Cricket Club's annual plain and fancy dress ball on December 6th. Next Sunday afternoon the I.O.GLT. will hold a church parade, marching from the schoolroom in full regalia. Mr Hopper, Wesleyan missionary from Mangaweka, will preach a temperance sermon. The Apiti Minstrel Troupe are to give an entertainment in the Town Hall, Rangiwahia, next Saturday evening, which should prove a real success. On account of the bad weather, the Ratepayers' Association meeting, which should have taken place on Saturday last, has been postponed till December 7th. A cricket match, which will prove very interesting, will take place between the " Curl's Clearing " arid Rangiwahia teams on the ground of the latter on December 7th. The following cricketers have been picked to represent the team "Curl's Clearing" — Messrs Fulton (2), Craig, Bryce, Brown (2), Bosfieldi MoCullon, Bre water, King, McGregor, A. Stevens, Rangiwahia team — Messrs Moran. Dyer (2), Bloomfield, Bosbier, Saywell, Cuff, Clements, Kule, Taylor, Windleburn, and Ross.
