Feilding Cycling Club.

A fairly-well attended meeting of thß Feilding Cycling Club was held in the Club Rooms last evening, Mr S. Andrew presiding. A letter was received from Mr H. Sy- • monds, hon. sec. of the Hastings Cycling Club, suggesting that a teams race be inserted in the programme of the sports to be held on January 22. Mr H. L. Sherwill, secretary of the Feilding Athletic Club, wrote asking for the co-operation of the Cycling Club in the matter of preventing cyclists and others from training on the track on the Oval while io its present wet condition, and it was decided that Mr Andrew be appointed to represent this club and confer with Mr Sherwill in the matter. With reference to the teams race, it was decided to inform Mr Symonds that as the programme had already been prepared this club could not adopt the suggestion made. A permit was received from the Town Clerk granting the club the use of the Recreation Reserve for the sports on Jan. 22, with power to make a charge for admission. * ' A letter was received from Major Elliott, secretary to His Excellency the Governor, stating the Governor was pleased to accept the position of patron of the clab, and the secretary was instructed to reply thanking His Excellency for accepting the position. ' The resolution passed at the previous meeting that there be an entrance fee only for events at the forthcoming sports was rescinded, and zt was Bec'iieA th&fc thera be a nomination and acceptance fee. It was resolved that the President's Handicap be competed for by local riders only. Mr E. A. Feels was appointed handicapper to act with a nominee from the Falmerston Club. The secretary was instructed to write to the Feilding Brass Band to ascertain what their terms would be for playing at the sports. Mr Andrew informed the meeting he would present a silver cup to be added to the prizes, and a vote of thanks was passed to him accordingly. Messrs T. Jenkins, J. H. Stevens, M. Belfit, and B. Parker were elected members of the club. The usual compliment to the chairman closed the meeting.
