(Per Press Association). Christchurch, Nov. 25. At the Supreme Court to-day a decree nisi was granted in the case of Scales v. Scales and another, husband's petition. The decree nisi in the case of Solomons v. Solomons was made absolute. James Butterfield, billiard-marker at the Junction Hotel, Raugiora, was committed for trial to-day on a charge of stealing from the till of the hotel moneys amounting to £83 5s 7d. 1 Dunedin, Nov. 25. In the Supreme Court the breach of promise case, Metilda O'Connor v. William C. Lynch, a railway hand at Balclutha, was compromised by payment of £200 A very large number of visitors arrived from North and youth this evening for the Show and the Spring race meeting which opens on Wednesday. Victor Neyman has been committed for trial for stabbing Herman Oatsman on the Danish barque Doris Brodersen. Masterton, Nov. 25. Rain has fallen almost every day during the past few weeks. It is feared that unless there is a stretch of fine weather the crop of grain will be very poor. His excellency the Governor, accompanied by Sir Henry Norman and a party of five from Government House, paid a visit to Masterton to-day. They were entertained by Mr W. H. Beetham. • An infant child named Westbrook fell from a wheelbarrow on Saturday and received a fracture of the arm. The Wairarapa Caledonian Society has added a two-mile open bicycle race to its programme for New Year's Day. Auckland, This Day. In the Waihi (Silverton) mine the new lode cut into twelve feet. A sample assayed at the rate of £45 per ton. The shares must rise. Napier, This Day. Very heavy rain fell last night and is continuing all day without abatement. The rivers in the district are reported to cc rising rapidly and the^low-lying lands are under water.
