The Midland Railway Case.
(Per Press Association.^ Wellington, Nov. 25. On the Arbitration Court resuming at 2 p.m., Mr Geo. Hutchison began his opening address on behalf of the company, and gave a general outline of the transaction between the company and the successive New Zealand Governments, quoting extensively from Parliamentary and other official papers and also acts of Parhament affecting the company. Mr Hutchison had not finished his address when the Court rose for the day. The Premier was present throughout the whole day's sitting. Four shorthand reporters — Messrs Gore and Russell of the Hansard staff, and Messrs Le Grove and McAhsler — are engaged in taking the proceedings at the Arbitration Court. They were sworn in before the work began. In addition to the council alseady named, Mr G. Harris, of Christchurch, appears as solicitor for the company, and Mr Burchall, the English solicitor to the company, is also watching the case. For the Crown Mr Findlay and Mr Gully are also appearing. This Day. Mr George Hutchison occupied all the morning in his opening address in the Arbitration Court, and has not yet concluded.
