Education Institute.
At the meeting of the Educational Institute, held at College street school, Palmerston, on Saturday, the following resolutions were passed : — That the Education Board be respectfully requested to discontinue the as* sembling of teachers at various centres for instruction in physical drill, inasmuch as the closing of the schools is causing mnch dissatisfaction among parents, the routine of school work is being disturbed, teachers are being put to inconvenience and expense, and less effective work is being done by the Drill Instructor than would result from his visiting each school at intervals. The Institute would further request the Board to limit the time to be given to physical drill in school to 30 minutes, and to indicate the subject from which this time may be taken. That in Standards' examination schedules provision be made for the entering of exceptions, as under the former regu* lations. That teachers be allowed to keep off the examination schedules the names of pupils admitted within fonr weeks of the date of examination. Mr F. E. Watson was appointed dele* gate to represent the branch at the annual council meeting, to be held in Wanganui next January. — Standard. ■M_M_^_^_H_M_^HMMH^
