Birmingham School Committee.
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) A School Committee Meeting was held in tbe school house on Saturday evening. Present— Messrs G. Anyon (chairman), Bainsbridge, Palmer, Harris and Morton (secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. On his surprise visit, the Inspector recommended that an additional easel be procured, but so far it has not been received, A cheque was received from tbe Education Board amounting to £3 11s 6d. The Inspector's report was read and showed the strict average attendance to be 54-6, and tbe working ayerage to be 58*4. There were on the books seventy-six scholars. The report on the whole was favorable. Of course there are defects, which the Inspector has clearly pointed out, but whatever fault has been found a reason has been given for it. In concluding his report he says : " The examination is so far as regards " passes " very satisfactory ; out of forty-six pupils only five failed. A pleasing feature of the examination was that every pupil in standards was present, although the day was very wet and stormy, and many had long distances to come." Beading, writing, oral answering, and discipline will require particular attention during the year.
