Sir Patrick Buckley is slightly better to-day. His medical adviser says he is suffering from nervous exhaustion and will be confined to his room for a week. New Plymouth, October 25. There was a heavy thunderstorm this morning. Torrents of rain fell, and the lightning was very vivid. Christchurch, October 25. For some time Mr Greville, "Government Auditor Inspector, has been enquiring into certain accounts connected with the Fire Brigade. He has now reported to the Mayor that he has placed the matter in the hands of the police. Napier, October 25. At the Waipawa Magistrate's Court a boy named John Tracey, aged 17, was charged with having set fire to the Te Aute Railway Station and found guilty and sentenced to three motnhs' hard labour. The s.s. Hawke's Bay, which left for London last night, took the largest cargo of frozen meat ever sent from here by one vessel— viz., 76,862 carcases — and 3444 bales wool. Dunedin, October 25. The Taieri and Peninsula Milk Supply Company made a profit for the year, including £503 brought forward, of £1160 after writing £100 off town property. The directors recommend a dividend of 8 per cent for tne year. During the year over a million gallons of milk were handled.
