POHANGINA— TOWN v. COUNTRY., The general opinion thai the above match would be a hard-fought battle was the means of attracting a large number of spectators to the township reserve on Saturday. Watson kicked off for the Country, and Johnston returned, the ball going out at title half* way flag, and play for a while was in the centre of the field. The Town, however, by a series of good rashes, put the Country on the defensive, forcing themdown several times. From a pass by Urwin, W. Adsett obtained the ball and scored for the Town, but Carrie was * unable to convert, time being called soon after — Town 3, Country nil. Urwin started play in the second spell' by kicking off for the Town, which was mulled by one of the Country backs. ' ■■ Johnston getting the ball made a shoit dodgy run and scored behind the posts, but the kick at goal was not allowed owing to some infringement of the Rules. \ After some give-and-take play A. Adsett , scored the third try for the Town, front. -*•.. which Johnston kicked a neat goal. No v* side was called soon after. Mr S. Roberts gave every satisfaction as refe- : ree.
