FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB.
We understand that the Colonial Secretary has intimated to the secretary of the Feilding Jockey Club that only one license to use the totalisator will be granted to the club for the present season, and this without giving any reason whatever, and in the face of the decision of the New Zealand Racing Conference — who apportioned the number of meetings to each club, and in which appointment Feilding was allowed two meetings. Naturally enough, the members of the club are very much incensed at this action of the Government, and we feel sure that the committee will not leave a stone unturned in their endeavours to maintain their right. While recognising the right of the Colonial Secretary to exercise the powers given by law, the public are asking what was the use ol holding a conference of delegates from the clubs in the colony to allot each club its race meetings, if backstairs influence can be successfully exercised to benefit one district at the expense of another.
