Gold Mining News.
(Per Press Association). Auckland, This Day. The Grand Junction Waihi has been floated in London. The property is at each end of the Waihi mine. Capital, £150,000. The Waihi Company receives 100,000 paid up shares to £1 for their ground. The Pirectors of the Star of Waihi have accepted £1,000 and 18,000 paid up Shares for their property. Reefton, September 12. At the Wealth of Nations mine a return has been obtained of 1250z amalgam, from 144 tons, top plates.
Yesterday's Post says : — The first return of gold from the mining claims at Karori came to hand to-day, and is of sufficient extent to give great encouragement to the prospectors who have so pluckily worked for several weeks past. It is from the No. 1 claim, known as Thompson's Reward, and situated on the hillside directly opposite the caretaker of the reservoir. The gold-dust consisted of ljoz of fine, bright gold and is valued at £3 18s 6d per ounce.
