The Stock Market.
Messrs Abraham and Williams report : — Since last week's report we have held sales at Shannon and Otaki, where the entries were small and business consequently limited. At Palmerston yesterday fat sheep came forward in increased numbers, There was a firm demand and ready sale throughout. Fat wethers advanced in price ; fat ewes kept their value. Hoggetts of medium quality and store wethers somewhat forward in condition made up the remainder of the entry. \ Store wethers, in sympathy with fat, wade increased rates. Hoggetts without quotable change. Cattle, plentiful, sold well when reserves were within reason, except for dairy stock which was without enquiry. Beef, in larger supply, advanced by 10s per head over hist week's rates A hardening effect upon this class of stock being doubtless due to the heavy clear ances made throughout the district for export purposes. Prime fat wethers, 13s 7d ; do. ewes, lls lid; fat ewes and wethers, light weights, 10s 7d ; store wethers, lls 3d ; hoggetts, 7s 3d to 7s 6d. Fat bullocks, £'6 17s to jL*7 4s ; fat cows and heifers, £i 14s 6d to .to ; 3-year steers, £4 Gs ; 2-year do., £3 to £'A 5s ; 2-year heifers, £2 12s 6d ; weaners, 24s to 28s ; separators 13s 6d.
