Feilding Fire Brigade.

, A meeting of the Feilding Fire Brigade was held ia the Foresters' Hall last evening Lieut. R. Newman presided I in the absence of Capt. Eade. i A lt.tt(u- v.n'i received from Mr J. die -r.vood thanking the Brigade for , {]•■/■: prompt and valuable assistance on W\- Inesday last in saving his house from destruction by fire ; also, enclosing a cheque for two guineas as a donation to the Brigade's funds. Capt. A. Eade tendered his resignation as an active member of the Brigade, and in doing so thanked the members for their past assistance. He was willin" to become an honorary member. It was resolved, on the motion of Secretary WorsfoW, seconded by Fireman Thomson, That Captain Eade's resignation be accepted with regret. In referring to the resignation of Captain Eade, Fireman Thomson referred to the lack of interest shown in the affairs of the Brigade by the business people of Feilding, and the Insurance Companies. There were ten fire insurance agents here and yet the 3' did nothing. The Brigade wanted more wells — one in Fergusson street and the other in Bowen street — and at least 500 feet of hose. In all the towns along the coa,st business men assisted their Brigades, but here they did nothing. He wanted to know why this was so, and thought the business people who were most concerned should take a greater interest in the Brigade's requirements and provide them with a more complete working plant. Resolved, That the Secretary be instructed to procure a long service medal for presentation to Captain Eade. Resolved, on the motion of Lieut. Newman, seconded by Fireman Mansell, That a vote of thanks be accorded to Mr Greenwood for his donation. Resolved, on the motion of Secretary Worsfold, seconded by Fireniaa Gosling, That Fireman Thomson be Captain of the Brigade. Fireman Humphrey was elected foreman. Resolved, Thai; the Secretary write to Dunedin and Napier and enquire the price of 500 feet of hose with coupling ; also cost of five helmets. The meeting then adjourned.
