American Cup Yacht Race.
.«. THE AMERICAN CHAMPION WINS BY 5 MINUTES. (Per Pbess Association.) New Yoek, Sept. 8. A hundred yaolits and' thirty thousand sightseers followed the race for the A merica Cup yesterday. The prices for tug boats rose 200 per cent. A gentle hreeze was hlowing. The English yacht Valkyrie, after a false start, was first over "the line hut the Defender, the American champion, with a freshening breeze completed the outward course three and half minutes ahead and eventually won by five minutes. The race was observed by a cloud of vessel and the steamers seriously hampered both the yachts. The Valkyrie allowed the Defender 29 l-10sees.
