The Boot Strike in Brisbane.
(Per Press Association.) Brisbane, August 27. At a meeting of boot manufacturers it was decided to re arrange many of the old hands as places could be found for them, giving preference to married men. About one-half have been re-arranged, on the distinct understanding that freedom of contract will be enforced. Any annoyance to the men who took the places of the strikers will be followed by dismissal. It was also decided not to recognise the Union any way in future, and not to allow subscription money for Union purposes.
