CROPS DAMAGED BY FLOODS. DESTRUCTIVE BUSH FIRES. (Per Press Association.) . Adelaide August 24. j The annual report of ihe Savings Bank shows that during the year the number of depositors increased by 2486, the amount deposited was £1,420,000, and the amount withdrawn £1,280,000. The total funds at the end of the year were £2,792,000. The amount of interest earned was £111,---0 0, and the interest paid depositors £97,500. Sydxey. August 26. Heavy westerly gales are causing destructive bush tires in the coastal districts. The insurances on the Wollongoug tire were about £8000. The National and New Zealand offices have several linos. It is understood that the Under-writ-ers have decided to send Home for special appliauces to enable the clivers to reach the wreck of the Catterthun. This Day. Another of the Redfern railway accident cases has been settled. A. Becket claimed £6000 damages for injuries and for loss of business, and the Court awarded him £900. Hobart, This Day. Heavy rains have beeu general, and much damage has been done to the hops and other crops by floods on the lowlying lauds. The railway lines were washed out in places, and the pier at Wynyard was damaged.
