Funeral of the Late Mr C. W. Maclean.

« The township of Bulls was iv Joop mourning yesterday, consequent on ob. serving the last sad rites in connection with tho doath of the lato Mr C. W. Maclean. Mourners wore there from far aud near, and the concourse swelled to nearly 1000 as the route was taken to the Clifton cemetery. The members of the Bangitikei Lodge, No. 3S, N.ZC, met in the lodge room shortly after 1.30, ancl a very large number of visiting brethren were also present from Feilding, Marton, Palmerston, and Wanganui, it being estimated that there were fully one hundred of the craft who had met to pay the last tribute of respect to one who had done so much to further the interests of the order. Bro. Thos. King, P.M. ancl hon. sec. of the Rangitikei Lodge, acted as M.C, and was assisted by Bro. F. Mansell, one of the lodge officers. After the usual ceremonies in the lodge room, the Masons formed in order of processiou and marched to the resideuce of the deceased, the body being received by the pall-bearers and placed in the hearse, tlie coffin aud vehicle being adorned with many wreaths scut by sympathising friends aud representatives of public bodies. The chief mourners were deceased's father, the Rev. Mr Maclean, and Mr Wm. Green (Mr Maclean's late partner). The cortege proceeded to St. Andrew's Church, and the remains beiug deposited outside the edifice, the burial service for the dead was impressively rendered by the Rev. J. Russell. The cortege was then reformed, and the Clifton Cemetery being reached, the Rev. Mr Russell concluded tho burial ceremony, after which the Masonic obsequies were duly carried out by Bro. King, the finale being the playing of the " Dead' March in Saul." Amongst the wreaths was one sent by the members of the Rangitikei Racing Clnb, the Bulls Towu Board, the Wav- i ganui Hospital and CA. Board, the Hospital Board staff, and others from personal friends. — Mercury.
