Football News.

The Secretary of the Feilding Football Club has received a notification of the decision of the N.Z. Rugby Uoion in the matter of the protests lodged by the Palmerston and Feilding Football Clubs ! against the decisions of the Manawatu Union. With reference to the protest against the disqualification of Robinson by the M.R.U. at the instance of the Palraerston Club, the N.Z.R.U. have ruled the former Union had no authority for suspending him and reprimanding the Feilding Club. In the case ot Martini and Stewart the bye law was broken by their playing for Awahuri as juniors after playing for Feilding as seniors. The action of the Union with regard to these two players was, therefore, upheld. As to the refusal of the M.R.U. to grant the transfer of certain players to the Feilding Club, the committee of the N Z.R.U. rule that the former were in order, and that whether the reasons for such refusal were good or not was not in question, as bye-law 30 leaves the matter at the discretion of the M.R.U. The Union having acted within its powers in arriving at a decision, the Feilding Club was wrong |in acting in defiance of that ruling. The j Palmerston N. Club's protest must be upheld, and the M.R.U, must "inflict such penalties for the breach of the rules as they deem fit," as provided in bye-law 39. new series. Nothing is said in the decision of the N.Z R.JJ. as to whether or not the Awahuri Club is defunct, and if that club has a yote on the M.R.U, A general meeting of delegates to the M.R.U. will be held at Mr Basting's Hotel on Tuesday evening next, at 6,15. Those players in the Feilding Football Club whose photos have been taken by Mr Bunting are requested to send their weight to the Secretary at once. The following will represent the Birmingham Football Club in their match against Apiti: — A. Foster, F. Barlow, Scrimgeour, Smiler, Whitehorn, D. Ross, W. 8011, 11. S. Moss, W. TolJey, E. G. ] Bell, Moran, Vitskey, Solos, Hodgkinson, and W. Whishaw; emergencies, Fanthorpe, A. Moss, and S. Richardson. The following will represent the Blueboys against the Schoolboys in a match on the Oval to-morrow : — Saxon, Peachy, Bray, Baker, Reade (3), J.
