Chilled Meat Trade.
The Agent -General, in a report to the Minister of Agriculture, states that the trial shipment of chilled beef by the Gothic arrived in excellent colour, and when cut presented a nice juicy appearance. There was an absence of the discolouration and hardening of the skin which invariably resulted from freezing, and the shipment realised 2-id per lb more than frozen beef. Sir Westby Perceval Jnys particular stress on the necessity for dressing all meat in first-clasa style, and expresses the opinion that the improvement in the trade at Home will be maintained until the end of the season.
