London Wool Market.

tPEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Lonuon, July 13. The total quantity of wool catalogued up to yesterday was 166,000 bales, of which 158,000 bales hare been cold. For a good selection of greasy and fine combings, the bidding was spirited and r rices remained unchanged. Tbe Ame'ican representatives made la "g<L purchases. At to-day's sales, a large catalogue was offered, and the competition was spirited, prices being well maintained. We are indebted to Mr Matheson for the following report from the Colonial Bank's London agent, dated 31st May, 1895 :— The third series of colonial wool sales for this year, which opened on the 30th ultimo, was brought to a close on the 25th inst. The available total was 341,000 bales, out of which about 312,000 were catalogued (including 62,500 New Zealand). Of this total about 291,000 were disposed of under the hammer, nearly 150*000 being taken for export — including 20,000 bales to America. The quantity held over until next series is about 68,000 bales (as compared with 116,000 bales at the same time last year), of which 47,000 bales had not been catalogued or offered at auctions this series. The attendance throughout has been large, and competition towards : the close of the series became gradually more active, but prices only close for good merinos about par as compared with last auctions, whilst faulty and inferior sorts close at 5 to 10 per cent, decline ; crossbreds of good style and lustre have been in strong demand and close about par, but dingy, wasty sorts close at about 5 per cent, decline on last sales prices. The fourth series of sales will close here on the 2nd July, the list closing on the day when 400,000 bales shall have arrived.
