POHANGINA v. PALMERSTON 11. The above match took place at Ashurst on Saturday afternoon before a large number of spectators, and resulted in a draw. Palmerston kicked off, Mann returning- the ball into touch at the twenty-five flag. From tho throw in some good passing and scrums transpired. The Pohangina forwards, with a rush headed by Adsett, Watson, and Fitch, eventually taking the ball over the line, the latter player scoring for Pobangina. Johnston took the kick but did not convert Hankins retired at this stage, havlng> received a nasty wrench, WaKely taking his place. The kick out saw Pohangina in trouble, and a hard kick by one of the Palmerston forwards forced Fob-angina down. Johnston set the ball rolling, and, following up, dribbled the ball over the line forcing Paltnerston down. Evans k ; cke 1 out but was well returned by Ccrkery, the ball going out at the twenty-five flug. From thla out, both teao9 worked hard, but no change was made in the score, Johnston after a neat run being thrown out t-f touch at the corner flag, when half time was called — Pobangina 3, Palmerston II nil. Shot ty after resuming play Pohangina was firced down. After which the ball going for a time between the twenty- five* flags with free kicks, marks, and line play, until De Luen got hold of the ball and made a rush for the line, and, when collared, passed to FitzSimniODS, who dribbled the bail over the line and scored for Pal merston. From this out both teams tried hard to increase the score, but the no side whistle went without any alteration — Palmerston 3 points, Po ' nangina 3.
