Mauawatu Rugby Union

A meeting of delegates of the Manawatu Rugby Union was held in the Manchester Hotel last evening, when the following delegates were present : — Messrs A. C. Matheson and Carty (Feildins) ; Izod, Smith (Marton) ; A. 11. Way (Red Stars) ; H. Nash, E. Perrin (Pirates) ; I. Fake, W. J. Pyke (Palmerston) ; Malion (Half-Holiday). Mr W. A. L. Bailey, President of the Union occupied the chair. The Secretary, Mr H. Palmer, read a protest against the Feilding Club, lodged by the Palmerston Club, for playing Stuart and Martini on Saturday last, alleging the action was in opposition to the rules of the union. The protest asked that the match be either given to Palmerston or that the match be played over again at Palmerston. Mr Fake proposed and Mr Pyke seconded, That the Feilding Club be disqualified during the pleasure of this Union for their action lnst Saturday in playing Martini and Stuart in defiance of the Union. — Negatived on the chairman's casting vote. The Awahuri delegate, Mr W. Broughton, was not allowed to vote as it was ruled the Awahuri Club was defunct. Notice of motion was given by Mr Matheson, That in consequence of the illegality of the meeting held on June 18th, through the action of the vicepresident voting, the resolution refusing the transfer of members of the Awahuri Club to the Feilding Club be declared null and void. Resolved that a vote of thanks be accorded to Mr W. A. Bailey for his donation of one guinea. Accounts from the Marton Club, and also for printing rules, were passed for payment. Proposed by Mr Matheson, seconded by Mr Pike, That the matter of transferring A. and L. Giorgi from the Half-Holiday Club to the Pirate Club be deferred till next meeting, and they be asked to attend. — Carried. Mr Macarthur's notice of motion was held over till next meeting. Resolved, That the next meeting of the Union be held in Palmerston. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the chairman and the meeting adjourned.
