--«.-._ — EXHAUSTIVE EXPERIMENTS AT BROKEN HILL. PAYMENT OF MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT. ENCOUNTER WITH BLACKS. (Per Press Association). Sydxey, June 23. The Cabinet will meet to-morrow afteruoon to discuss the situation and arrive at the final decision, which will be submitted to the House on Tuesday. As the result of exhaustive experiments, the Broken Hill Proprietary Company intend to erect immediately a concentrating sulphide dressing plant, capable of treating 1400 tons sulphide weekly. The experiments have shown that it is possible to save 85 per cent of lead and over 60 per cent of silver. Sailed -H.M.S. Penguin. She takes soundings in Tasman Sea, hence to Auckland, arriving there on July 14th. From Auckland she goes amongst the Islands in connection with the Pacific cable route. Brisbane, This Day. It is understood the Payment of Members Bill will be introduced this session. The amount will be fixed either at £240 per annum or £200 with certain allowances. Reprisals are taking place on the Palmer Goldfield between the blacks and the Chinamen. One of the latter has just been killed in revenge for the Chinese poisoning a number of blacks with strychnine placed in flour to deter them from stealing provisions.
