New Zealand Bifle Association.
o - I PEE PBESS ASSOCIATION.! Wellington, June 17. A deputation of shooting men waited on the city and suburban Members of Parliament to-night, urging their assistance in retaining the Government grant to the New Zealand Rifle Association. Sir R. Stout and Dr Newman expressed astonishment that the small assistance (about £250 for ammunition and free railway passes) now extended to the Association, was to be withheld, and each promised to heartily support Government aid in future, and said they were of opinion that in view of the importance of the volunteer movement assistance should be extended rather than curtailed. Mr Bell wrote supporting the objects of the Association.
