Annexation of Bechuanaland.

* ; (Per Peess Association). Capetown, June 12. In the House of Assembly, the Right "* Hon. Cecil Rhodes (Premier) moved that steps be taken to annex British Bechuanaland. The charter was ready, and it was intended with the consent oi ; the Imperial Government to assume the administration of that territory. It was, continued Mr Rhodes, expected that the Government would be established at the Cape, which would have control of the country as far as Lake Tanganyika, aud that this would be brought about by Federation and a uniform tariff. The motion was adopted.
