N.S.W. Politics.

(PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION) Sydney. This Day. In the Legislative Assembly Mr Schey moved the adjournment of the House in order to condemn the action of the Government in allowing the Crown Solicitor to defend Major General Hutton, Commandant of the Forces, in the libel action brought against him by Captain Close. The Government, he said, were not justified in allowing the Crown Solicitor to defend a person in a civil action. The Premier said the writ was accepted on the distinct understanding that it referred to the official action of Major-Genl. Hutton, otherwise in no case would the Solicitor be allowed to defend him. The Attorney-General made a hot attack on the action of some members in respect to the Land and Income Tax, which he characterised as uncotirteous and savoring of assassination. A warm debate resulted, and eventually it was agreed that the second reading of the Bill hp. taken on Wednesday.
