Campbelltown Notes
[from our own correspondent, i A very enjoyable social was held in the Templars' Hall on Thursday evening. There was a good attendance, and visitors from Awahuri and Feilding lodges contributed freely to the programme, making the social a great success. The evening was spent also in games, etc., and, at the close, refreshments, provided by the Sisters of the Lodge, were handed round. Ero. Ransom presided over the meeting in his usual happy style, and in his remarks gave the members some encouraging advice. I am sorry to record that the wife of Mr T. Mitchell, Engineer of the Manchester County Council, is seriously ill. Our township is steadily increasing. A blacksmith's shop is in course of erection. Mr Spry, of Bulls, is to be its supervisor, and, with the increase of trade by the Factory, he will, no doubt, do very well. A strange incident has taken place here. A young man in the employ of Mr Hopping has rnysterurasly disappeared. He was sent with some things to a place where Mr Hopping and others were to work. Mr Hopping arrived at the place two days after, and was surprised at not finding the yoiing man there. His clothes were all left behind, and search for him has been made, but no trace can be found. However, the case is in the hands of the police, who are busy making investigation.
