According to the figures published in today's Gazette, the revenue fortheMarcn quarter was : — Customs, £'435,214 ; stamps, .£165,795 ; post ond telegraphs, £27,803 ; land tax, £3043 ; income tax, £83,443 ; beer duty, £19,810; railways, £373,494; registration etc., £14,000; marine £6838: miscellaneous. L 33 ,778 ; territorial, L 124.690; total, L 1,586,154. The expenditure for the same quarter was : — permanent appropriations, L 157.833 ; annnal anpropnations, L 672,349 : transferred to public works fund, L 203.000 ; total, L 1,025,182., 025, 182. Deducting the debit balance at December last of L84,173f and adding L 2.220 received on the Cheviot Estate account a surplus for the year of L 120,019 is arrived at.
