Kiwitea County Council.
(Conclusion of Report.) Proposed by Mr Jacob, seconded by Mr Homer, That the Clerk inform Messrs Skerretfc aud Wylie the Council will order removal of the roadman's house from Oraua street if insisted upon, but in fairness must also compel removal of Mr Bath's house and fences off road lines, and suggesting that matters be left as they are for the present. — Carried. Eesolved, That Madden and Co. be allowed to continue their contract on Mangapipi road another 30 chains for the sum of 19s 6d per chain. Proposed by Cr Shannon, seconded by Cr Williamson, That tenders be called for making a bridle track on Eangitikei Valley road for a distance of 80 chains, to be paid out of thirds in hand. — Carried. Eesolved, That the names of J. and C. Windeiburn be placed on rate roll, for one acre of section 259, in place of T. Eowles. Eesolved, That W. Wahle be allowed the use of the part of section 18, Waitapu West, that is north of the Waituna stream at a rental of 10s a 3'ear, and that he be informed tbat the Council has no control over section 20. Eesolved, That Cr Morton arrange, if possible, with Mr Carr for the use of his yards at Birmingham as a public pound, and report at the next meeting. Proposed by Cr Homer, seconded by Cr Shannon, That the ranger be instructed to impound ell cattle found trespassing on any road or roads within the Apiti riding upon receipt of a notice in writing to do so from the Councillor representing the district, — Carried. Proposed by Cr Williamson, seconded by Cr Eeid, Tbat the Clerk write to the Eangitikei County Council informing them of the inability of this Council to make any payment on account of Vinegar Hill bridge, aa the money will not be obtainable from Government before September nest. — Carried. Resolved, That the Engineer report to the next meeting on the proposal of the Eangitikei Council to substitute a suspension bridge for acylinier bridge at Otara. Eesolved, That any two of tho Crs. be authorised to sign cheques together with the treasurer, AfrE. Goodbehere. Eesolved, That until all liabilities for bridges to end of financial year are provided for the total amount of loan applied for, for roadmaking including Oroua and Makino loans shall no. exceed £2000. The clerk to see that this be strictly adhered tj. A special order was made merging the Kiwitea Eoad District into the County. Eesolved, That £180 of the Eugineer's salary be charged to loan and land funds proportionately, to the amounts expended on works hy the Council, the resolutions of August 25th being hereby altered. Eesolved, That the resolution of December 15th, re holding meetings of the Council at Birmingham, be altered by inserting the word " November " for " June." Eesolved, That a general rate of £d in the £ be hereby made on the whole of the rateable property as appearing in the valuation roll in force for the year ended 31st March, 1896. Also, that a special rate of £d in the £ be also now made on the whole of the rateable value within the Apiti and Makino ridings ; £d in the £ within the Hautapu riding and £d in the £ within the Kimbolon, Oroua, Waituna, and Ongo ridings. Eesolved, That the Engineer and Cr Jones have a few yards of metal put on the Makino ward where required, not exceeding £10 worth, and that the culvert on Mackay's line be left in their hands to do the best they can with. Proposed by Cr Shannon, seconded by Cr Morton, That £500 of Land Fund money be trasnferred to the General account, and that the Council bind itself to refund this amount to the Land Fund account by the fourth Saturday of August, 1895.— Carried. For the motion — Crs Shannon, Morton, Eeid ; against — Crs Jacob and Jones. A special meeting was held to confirm the striking of rate for Cheltenban Cross road bridge loan. Mr E. G. McDermott waited on the Council with refereence to a stream of water alleged to have been diverted on to his property.— He was informed the Engineer would inspect the locality and report. Accounts amounting to £431 4s 7d were passed for payment and the Council adjourned.
