Football Notes.
«. A meeting of tbe Manawatu Rugby Union was beld at tbe Royal Hotel, Palmerston, on Thursday night. Present—J. H. Hankins (in tbe chair), Matheson, Carty, Harris, Bray, Macarthur, Broughton, Fake, Nash, Mahon, McMillan, and Palmer (secretar}') • The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read and dealt with. The full particulars of the appeal of the Feilding and Awaburi Clubs to the New Zealand Union were read, and it was resolved, on the motion ott Mr Me. Millan seconded by Mr Fake, *That Mr Nash be authorised to wait on the New Zealand Union and answer any questions with regard to the matter that may be asked. Proposed by Mr Mahon, seconded by Mr Fake, That the subscription of the Rangitikei Union to the Manawatu Rugby Foootball Union be £1 ls for each team. — Carried. Tbe motion of the Feilding Club with regard to Mr AVeekes was then discussed. Mr Mahon moved, and Mr Fake seconded, That this Union has every confidence in Mr Weekes as a referee, and that the charges of partiality made by the Feilding Club be dismissed as frivolous. — Carried. Messrs Randall, Mahon, and Brinkman, were elected a junior match committee. Resolved, That the junior championship be decided in two rounds. The following vice-presidents were elected : Messrs Smith (Marton),. Bishop (Awahuri), Carthew (Red Stars). Resolved, That Awahuri Club must change its colors. The new bye-laws were submitted to the Union and approved. The meeting then adjourned.
A game of Association football was played on the Oval yesterday. Messrs Daniels, Gibsone, Myers, Nossiter, Beattie (2), Burrell, Hayne, and several Rugby men, kindly joined in and a pleasant game was played. The Oroua Club are arranging matches with Wellington, Wanganui, and Woodville. At the match yesterday at Palmerston, Poneke v. Palmerston, the former won by 30 points to nil.
iPER PRESS ASSOCIATION). Hawbba, This Day. During the Junior Cup football match on Friday, Harry Maclean, son of Geo. Maclean, a well-known settler, sustained what appears to be serious injury to his spine through a fall.
