Stock Market.

Messrs Abraham and Williams report : Our sales for the week ending, were held at Colyton and Palmerston. At the former there was a heavy yarding of sheep. Buyers adopted what has lately become quite an art, viz., the plan of holding off from bidding under the hammer and then trading afterwards. On these terms a heavy clearance was effected. Cattle, in few numbers, were without enquiry. At Palmerston yesterday sheep mustered freely and considerably in excess of advertised numbers. The proceedings at auction were oi the dtdlest description, a moderate proportion being " hawked " off afterwards. Suitable wethers keep their value better than anything else. The enquiry for good lambs has subsided to a limited pitch, all other classes of stock difficult to place. As to tbe cattle market few lots are offering, tbe demand here too •is also of a limited order. For beef there was a slightly improved tone, but our eupplies were small and hardly sufficient to be taken as an indication of the state of trade. Colyton— Fat wethers, 7s lOd to 8s ; forward wethers, 7s ld ; stores, 5s to 6s 6d ; lambs, 2s 4d to 3s 3d : choice do., 3s lld to 4s 4d ; fat ewes, 6s : store ewes, 38 9d to 4s 6d ; culls, 2s. Milch cows L 4 10s to Lo ; springing heifers, L 2to L 3. Palmerston— Fat wethers, 7s 6d to 8s 6d ; fat ewes, ss6dto6s4d; 2 tooth store wethers, 5s 4d ; 2 tooth eweß, 4s 6d to 5s 9d ; best quality lambs, 4s ; cull ewes, lg to Is 9d. Cattle— Light weights, L 3 16s to L 4 10s ; fresh steers, L 3 16s ; springing heifers, L 2 5s to L 5 ; milch cows, L 3 lis ; weaners, 10s to 15s.
