The agitation for a rehearing of the charges against Dean, the wife-poisoner, is spreading, and numerous meetings liave been held in the city and country centres. The Attorney-General informed the Investigation Committee that one of the smartest detectives in the fore© had been told off on behalf of the Government to enquire into the case. He admits the matter has been taken out of the hands of the police, but denies I that he has resigned his responsibility in the case to an irresponsible body of citizens, such as the Committee is.
