The Championship Regatta.
(Per Press Association). Picton, April 16. It was found impossible to hold the regatta to-day, and all events were postponed till 9.30 aim. to-morrow. A large number of excursionists are still weather bound here. The gale seems to have blown itself out. As the rowing uieu cannot get away the postponement will not materially affect the starters for the various events. At a large and representative meeting of rowing men last night it was decided to recommend the Rowing Association that the championship regatta be held on a date between 21st February and 21st March, that Picton be chosen as the permanent championship course, and that New send a crew to Australia next year, This Day. The weather was glorious this morning. The water is smooth, and glass rising. After two vexatious postponements the regatta will be got off to-day under favourable circumstances. Some of the Wellington crews had to return home. The concert last night in aid of the fund to replace the boats smashed on Saturday's gale realised iJ3O.
