Wanganui Education Board.

The monthly meeting of the Board of Education was commenced last night. Present — Messrs Carson (chairman) Fry, Sanson, Bridge, Baker, Hurley, and Rev. J. Ross. Cash Statement — The Treasurer placed a statement on the table showing that on the two accounts (building and general), after deducting all liabilities, the Board had only a balance of about J?1000 with which to meet the tenders to be received at the present meeting. Chairman —On the motion of Mr Hurley, seconded by the Rev. J. Ross, Mr G. Carson was elected chairman of the Board for the ensuing year. Appointments— The Board then went intojeommittee to consider appointments, and on resuming reported the following business, which was approved : — Awatnna— Miss Mclutyre appointed i teacher. Pohangina — Mr Clapham, senr., pupil teacher at Ashurst, to be transferred to Pohangina. Ashurst — Mr Jarvis, cadet at Campbelltown, to be offered a pupil teacher, ship at Ashurst, and Sarah Young to be appointed cadet, subject to inspector's approval. Awahuri — Committee to be asked to select applicant without delay. Board Vacancy — The nominations of Mr Fred Pirani, M.H.R., and Mr S. H. Drew were received and the chairman said he would fix Saturday, 11th May, as the last day on which the Committee's votes should be received, and Monday, ltJth May, as the day of election. Campbelltown— The Board's carpenter to be sent to report on the building requirements of the school as soon as convenient. The Board then adjourned to 10 o'clock this morning. — Chronicle.
