A Serious Fire.

A CHILD BURNED in the FLAMES [Per; Press Association] . Chkistchurch, April 8. A fire broke out at 7 o'clock tonight in the southern portion of (he city by which four buildings were totally destroj r ed — namely, Clayton's boot factory, Hislip's painter's shop, i Burris saddler, and Bayliss' boarding house. Mrs Burns, who had only been confined a few dtsys, nas got out safely, but a 2£ year old child perished and it is thought that another child has been burned. A strong* south-west wind was blowing, and the brigade had great difficulty in saving- the suri rounding property. The insurances are not yet procurable.
