Q . ADVANCE OF THE BRITISH. TWO BRITISH OFFICERS MADE PRISONERS. [Per Press Association] Calcutta, April 4. Nine hundred natives have marched to Gilgit, and offered their services to the British authorities. The first Brigade has captured the Shakhot Pass. Another brigade is being prepared for service in Chitral, Umfa Khan bas imprisoned two British officers and seven Sepoys. His troops are gathering and entrenching themselves at Mandar. The British forces have now resumed the advance. April 5. The efforts of the troops from Gilgit to force the Mustuj Pass were foiled, owing to a blinding snowstorm. Fifteen were killed on the British side. Both brigades are at Nalakuud Pass. The Ranizai tribesmen, who were defeated at the storming of the Malakund, have since submitted to the British.
