A Protest Against High Rates of insurance.
Q L (Per Press Association). Christchurch, April 5. At a meeting of large insurers in Chuistchurch this afternoon, a resolution wrs passed that no reason existed for the large premiums demanded in Christchurch, which were in many cases 50 per cent higher than in any other New Zealand centres, and that the time had arrived when this treatment of Canterbury insurers be resisted in every way possible. Ie was resolved to form a society to be called the Canterbury Insurers Protection Association, and a committee was appointed to obtain particulars of insurance in other parts of the world. The committee were instructed to negotiatfor cover up to £50,000 pending a settler tnent of the differences between the Association and the insurance companies. «■■■■■■■■■■■ i
