Wellington Stock and Produce Markets.

Tame and Co. report on the markets for the week endina April sth :— Sheep.— No rise but market fairly firm, prime wethers, 9s to 9s 6d ; mcd- ! ium. 8s to 8s 6d ; fat ewes, 7s 6d ; for ! best inferior, 5s to 6s ; fat lambs, season over ; store wethers, 6s to 7s for best ; 5s to 5s 6d for lighter sorts ; breeding ewes, sales up to 6s 6d for young ewes ; mixed ages, 5s 6d ; full mouth ewes, 3s 6d to 4s : culls, 2s 6d ; lambs, sales up to 4s for best. Cattle— Market dull for all classes except dairy stock, weaners, 20s to 255 ; yearlings, 30s to 365; 2- year, 50s to 60s ; 2-year, 70s to 90s ; still good demand for dairy stock of all kinds. Young cows just calved or close to calving up to £9. Heifers in calf sold at Hutt sale on 3rd very well. We held a special sale of pedigree Ayrshires at the Hutt on 3rd April, prices, although fair, were mostly in favour of buyers. The horse market is still glutted with Sydney horses, and prices are coming down. We offered a lot of draughts from Canterbury to a dull market on Saturday, nearly all of which were passed but are changing hands privately at a reduction on owners reserves. We refrain from quoting at all at present until the market settles and the unsold portion is cleared off. Wool — Market decidedly better, scare ig over and all odd lots of wool and skius coming forward sell freely. Skins up to 4d and 4£d for best advice sending all forward before the weather gets bad. Grain— Little doing, milling wheat, 2s 6d : wheat same price ; feed oats, Is 8d to Is 9d, we sold at auction up to Is 7id.
