FEILDING v. OROUA. This match took place on Saturday, the Feildiug team riding to Sandon and trucking their ponies thence, by tram to Oroua Downs, where the game was played. The weather, which was threatening all day, kept fine through* out, and, after the previous day's raia, the ground was in first- class order. Following are the names of the players : Oroua. — Strang, Gower, Robinson, and McLennan (captain) ; Feilding. — Strachan, Giesen, Cooper, and Pickering (captain). Play wrs commenced at about 2 30, in the presence of a large number of visitors amongst whom were many ladies, and, after an interesting game, Oroua won by 7 points to 1 . Gower scored the only goal in the first spell, and Strang and McLennan were responsible for one each in the second. The play in the third spell was very fast, Giesen scored a goal for the visitors, and Robinson knocked up two more for the home team, and in the final Gower added another two to Oroua's credit. The winners played a fine combined game, their clean hard hitting being much admired. Luncheon and afternoon tea was kindly provided by Mrs McLennan, and, after an enjoyable game, the visitors left by tram at about 515 p.m. A return match has been arranged, to be played at Feilding, on Saturday, I3th instant, and, if defeat is to be averted, it , will be well for our players to keiep id their proper places, and trust each individual of their side to do his owb work.
